Riding Down Memory Lane
The Bike
A re-imagined bicycle made to be taken on long strolls where one can sit back and relax comfortably all while still controlling and balancing the bike.
The two wheeled drive!
The frantic pedalling!
The bleeding knee!
The hot seat, and the airless tires!
The pedals now too small for my size 7 feet!
And dad, holding my bike, running beside me, I see it on the screen!
That’s when I learnt how to ride!
That’s when my own world enlarged!
That’s when I learnt the word “balance”!
That’s when I learnt to look ahead!
Keep going!
Forward! Forward! Forward!
And then you fall! And you get back up!
Because my five year old self indulges in picking my scabs anyway!
And oh I’ll keep going!
And here I am turning 20,
And oh I am still going!
